Surrey Speaks season 1 episode 3 - Covid-19: Vaccination questions answered

This week, we are talking about something that’s taken over our lives for the past year…Covid-19.

On 23rd March 2020, Prime Minister (at the time) Boris Johnson announced that we’d be going into lockdown for the first time.  260 days later, on December 8th, the UK administered its first ever dose of the PfizerBioNTech vaccine.

In this episode, our world-renowned immunology expert, Professor Deborah Dunn-Walters, went through some of the burning questions we had about COVID-19, the vaccine roll-out, and what the ‘new normal’ may look like.

We asked Professor Dunn-Walters:

  • How vaccines work and the different ways in which they’re effective
  • Why has the booster jab been delayed from the initial 21-day gap to a 12 week gap.
  • What will the new normal look like?
