Six GRAMMY nominations for Surrey Tonmeister alumni
Music and Media’s Tonmeister degree alumni are no strangers to award ceremonies and rubbing shoulders with the stars. For 2025, graduates from Surrey have been nominated in six high profile categories at the GRAMMYS, for engineering albums and singles for Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, The Beatles and Peter Gabriel.
The nominations are:
- GRAMMY nomination: Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical: Sabrina Carpenter, Short n' Sweet – Engineer: Oli Jacobs (pictured above)
- GRAMMY nomination: Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical: Peter Gabriel, i/o – Engineers: Oli Jacobs, Katie May, Dom Shaw
- GRAMMY nomination: Album of the Year: Taylor Swift, The Tortured Poets Department – Engineer/Mixer: Oli Jacobs
- GRAMMY nomination: Album of the Year: Sabrina Carpenter, Short n' Sweet – Engineer/Mixer: Oli Jacobs
- GRAMMY nomination: Record of the Year: Taylor Swift featuring Post Malone, Fortnight – Engineer/Mixer: Oli Jacobs
- GRAMMY nomination: Record of the Year: The Beatles, Now and Then – Engineer/Mixer: Greg McAllister
Nominated in five categories, sound engineer Oli Jacobs graduated from Surrey back in 2014. He comments:
"I’m really excited and grateful for the Grammy nominations and so happy to be nominated alongside my friends and Tonmeister alumni Katie and Dom! Everything started for me at the University of Surrey, especially during the year in industry. The friends and industry contacts I made during my time on the Tonmeister course helped kickstart my career in music - I wouldn’t be here without them."
The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony in Los Angeles in February 2025.
