School of Law's REF 2021 results

The recent Research Excellence Framework 2021 (REF) saw the School of Law achieve outstanding results for research outputs.

Fifty-four per cent of the School’s research outputs1 have been rated as world-leading (4*) and 90 per cent as either world-leading or internationally excellent. The School is now ranked 6th in the UK for research outputs. 

All aspects of the School’s research environment were judged to be conducive to producing research of internationally excellent (3*) or internationally recognised quality (2*).

 

1 REF defines research outputs as: “the published or publicly available products of research, which can take many forms. These include books, monographs, chapters in books and journal articles as well as performances, exhibitions and other practice research outputs, software, patents, conference proceedings, translations, and digital and visual media."
