Professor Lisa Roberts Awarded Honorary Doctorate

Professor Lisa Roberts, whose connection to Surrey runs deep, has been awarded a Doctorate degree, honoris causa, for the impact of her research work, teaching and her exceptional leadership which has elevated her to the prestigious position of Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive at the University of Exeter.

Professor Roberts spent more than 18 years at this University, serving as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences in her final four years at the University. During that time she  established our School of Veterinary Medicine.

In November 2022, Professor Roberts, together with our own President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Max Lu, signed a formal Collaboration Agreement between the University of Exeter and the University of Surrey, for the School of Medicine.

Professor Roberts says: "One thing I have learned is to be authentic, to be yourself, not to try to be someone else or act like someone else as you think that’s what’s expected. Because you are good enough just being you."
