KTP research grant awarded
Professor Bonnie Buchanan from Surrey Business School's Sustainable and Explainable FinTech (SAEF) Centre, and Dr Ehsan Toreini from the Surrey Centre for Cyber Security, and Guildford-based investment consultants, JTFM, have secured Knowledge-Based Partnership (KTP) funding, which is part of Innovate UK, of £286,000.
The KTP team which includes JTFM’s Chief Operating Officer, Jane Kenyon, and KTP Associate, Kevin Kuriakose, have embarked on a 30-month KTP project to develop an AI-powered FinTech toolkit. The toolkit aims to unlock hidden insights within complex financial data, and automate chart generation, enabling rapid client presentations and significantly reduce manual effort.
Professor Buchanan (pictured, above right) said: “A lack of financial literacy leaves many vulnerable to poor decisions and financial instability. AI can help bridge this gap by providing personalised advice and insights based on individual spending patterns. Visualisations make complex financial data easier to understand, turning numbers into engaging, interactive tools. Together, these technologies empower individuals to make informed and confident financial choices”
