CBE statement on the conflict in Ukraine
The Centre for Britain and Europe (CBE) is deeply concerned about the situation in Ukraine. We condemn the invasion, and we would like to express our solidarity with the people of Ukraine, and our support to our colleagues and students in Ukraine.
We are joining many other academic institutions urging the UK government and the international community to do everything they can to help Ukrainians live in peace.
The University of Surrey has made it clear that it stands on the side of peace and reconciliation and holds dear the principles of freedom, democracy, and self-determination. These values are fundamental for academic freedom and collaboration. A vigil for peace has been held at the University, organised by the Students’ Union in support of those affected by the crisis.
